Olympia Real Estate

The beautiful capital city of Olympia is as breathtaking as it is prosperous. Taking into account its strong economy, numerous recreational opportunities, good schools and neighborly ambiance, this Washington city becomes an excellent setting in which to advance a career, raise a family or just enjoy a quality way of life.

From its humble beginnings, Olympia currently boasts a population of more than 45,000 residents and limitless possibilities. Originally inhabited by several Indian tribes, the city was founded by settlers traveling across the country in the mid-1800s. Olympia was planned akin to many New England communities, which featured a town square and tree-lined streets, along the shores of Budd Inlet. On clear days, the Olympic Mountains can be seen to the north, watching over the city and its residents.

The modern day Olympia provides numerous distractions for residents wishing to enjoy nature, art, culture and community spirit. Boating and fishing are popular especially during the mild summer months. Percival Landing is a 1.5-mile boardwalk that wraps around the downtown waterfront that offers picnic areas and room for tying up your boat. Priest Point Park, located along the east shore of Budd Inlet, offers 300 acres worth of activities – a 3-mile trail, beach access, picnic shelters, playground and a rose garden.

For a closer look at area wildlife in a natural setting, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge has hiking trails and educational programs to introduce visitors to local conservation efforts. Historians will appreciate the Old Capitol Building and State Capitol Campus. This group of historic buildings is open for tours and hosts special events throughout the year while providing a glimpse of early architecture and landscaping. The Olympic Flight Museum has an extensive collection of vintage aircraft and sponsors the annual Olympic Air Show in June. For a taste of the city, residents can pick up fresh produce grown by local farmers at an open-air market on summer weekends.

As the capital city, many government offices and services are located in Olympia as well as a variety of job opportunities in such career fields as technology, healthcare, recreation and tourism. Residents also can enjoy easy access to attractions and activities in other cities via Interstate 5. Day trips to Seattle, one hour to the north, and Portland, a two-hour drive south, are easily within reach.

Olympia’s students receive a well-rounded education from Olympia School District, Tumwater School District and North Thurston Public Schools. Educators in these public school districts provide children with the knowledge and guidance they need to be successful community members. Several higher education opportunities are also available in the Olympia area including The Evergreen State College, St. Martin's University and South Puget Sound Community College. With all of these opportunities, why wait to make Olympia home? Nancy Griego will use her knowledge and expertise to help you buy or sell real estate in Olympia.
